The research will gradually expand to involve collaboration with providers of other related services such as complementary health care and clergy.

Phase IV is intended to implement a research project which will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of the proposed programs on improving the quality of life for participants. At the same time they will experience a circle of mutual respect and support and mentoring of one to the other. They will be recruited and trained by our mentors and elders to assist in the efforts to record and chronicle the legacies of the elders. Phase III intends to expand the work done in Phase I by once again reaching into communities and adding children at risk to our mentoring concept. Whether keeping the legacies for the family or extending the histories to a wider, community audience, training will encompass finding and utilizing the right venue. Mentors will be trained in interviewing techniques, use of audio and video equipment, use of photography, journaling and art as a medium of self expression as well as ethics and confidentiality. Phase II involves conducting workshops and lectures on gathering family and community legacies. Elders will be recruited through collaboration with local community senior service organizations. Qualified individuals will be recruited and trained to assist and mentor the elders throughout this process. Phase I of our project is to honor and acknowledge the wisdom of our society’s elders by recording and producing a chronicle of their life experiences, a legacy for their families and community. To honor the human spirit through education and service and to empower the individual facing life challenges. Celebrate the integrity of your very special personality.
